Newsvine

January 26th, 2006 Posted in General

I’ve added yet another item to my stable of feeds tonite. The latest edition is a feed for my Newsvine column.

Newsvine is a news site that is centered around “Citizen Journalism” (their words, not mine). The concept is that major media outlets (MSNBC, CNN, FoxNews, etc) only show you the news thru a very narrow viewport…those of the editors of a (and possibly shareholders, if you’re into the conspiracy stuff) handful of global media organizations. Newsvine lets the users of the site help decide what gets top billing on the site.

While the site currently is anchored by mostly AP stories, over time they hope that more and more individuals (read bloggers) will contribute editorial content.

I could explain more, but it’s probably easiest for you to check it out. It’s still in a closed-beta for the time-being, but being the techno-dork I am, I’m already in and have invites to give out! So if you’re interesting in signing up, send me an email (or leave a comment below!).
