Funny 80’s(ish) Songs

April 20th, 2005 Posted in General

I was listening to the new station (that my wife works for) the other day and the song “Working for the Weekend” by Loverboy came on. I instantly started laughing because that song makes me think of the Chris Farley/Patrick Swazey skit where both of them are trying out for Chippendales.

So that got me thinking of older songs I can no longer take seriously because they’re intimately tied to funny skits/movies. I’ve compiled a short list below…feel free to add your own.

  • Dust in the Wind (Kansas): Frank the Tank’s rendition in Old School at Blue’s funeral.
  • Don’t Fear the Reaper (Blue Oyster Cult): SNL Skit
  • Anyway You Want It (Journey): The Rodney Dangerfield golfcourse dance scene in Caddyshack.
